Innovation for success – Lufthansa Systems trusts in Axinom
Lufthansa Systems relies on Axinom’s competence in Microsoft Streaming and DRM technologies for the development of the in-flight entertainment system (IFE) BoardConnect that had been highly distinguished with the prestigious Crystal Cabin Award 2012.
The in-flight entertainment solution (IFE) BoardConnect received the Crystal Cabin Award in the „Passenger Comfort“ category at the Aircraft Interiors Expo 2012 in Hamburg. This award is the only international prize for excellence and innovation in the field of aircraft interiors.
Passengers can use mobile devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones to join the BoardConnect WiFi network and access audio, video, games, and information stored on an onboard server. If the aircraft has Internet access, passengers can also surf the web during their flight, write emails or stay in touch with friends and family through Facebook, Twitter and other social networks.

The vendor's responsibilities are numerous: Axinom supports Lufthansa Systems in conceptional design and software development for the central multitenant Digital Asset Management platform that manages video and audio content, metadata, as well as digital rights by means of Microsoft PlayReady DRM. Furthermore, Axinom supports publishing of content to different operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Windows Phone, Apple MacOS and iOS, as well as Google Android. At that, Lufthansa Systems relies on Axinom’s broad experience in the area of Digital Asset Management and Video Streaming portals.
