AIX 2017: Axinom launches Video Ingest and Processing (VIP)
At Aircraft Interiors Expo 2017 in Hamburg, Axinom will introduce Axinom Video Ingest and Processing (VIP), a new component in its software solution portfolio. Advancing the Digital Platforms strategy, Axinom VIP brings a faster content approval by content providers, speeds up the content updates, significantly reduces technical challenges related to content preparation and distribution, and allows faster time to market with reduced costs.
“Our customers need a radically faster and simpler video processing infrastructure as they seek to deliver the latest content to their passengers,” says Ralph Wagner, Axinom CEO. “Axinom Video Ingest and Processing (VIP) enables our customers to focus on delivering premium content, faster and cost effective. In addition to that, as the proven industry leader in content management, protection and delivery, we are using aerospace-proven technologies to empower our customers to get a faster approval of their content, which translates to the faster time to market with reduced costs.”
Customers and service providers can integrate Axinom VIP into their existing workflows with Axinom VIP on-premises or using managed Axinom VIP cloud deployment to deliver best movies faster and more easily to the passengers.
Axinom VIP supports MPEG-DASH with CENC wholeheartedly. Together with different players, Axinom is able to bring MPEG-DASH to most important platforms reducing the need for different container formats and DRM systems, which is especially useful for BYOD scenarios. Cloud deployment allows basically unlimited resources for processing content – all ingested assets can be processed in parallel to save time.
Axinom VIP can be easily integrated with Axinom´s multi-DRM service that is critical for premium content protection.
Digital Platforms built on Axinom for Aerospace market
All Axinom products expose a comprehensive API which enables providers to build their own solutions on top and to interact with 3rd party systems (ERP, recommendation engines, content provider and post production studios).
Using Axinom’s set of products service providers can significantly reduce the cost of service with optimized workflows for content management and delivery:
Axinom Video Ingest and Processing (VIP) is a video ingest and processing aimed to bring a faster content approval by content providers, speed up the content updates, significantly reduce technical challenges related to content preparation and distribution, and allow faster time to market with reduced costs. It allows content providers to update their premium content in a matter of hours with reduced costs. Customers can integrate VIP into their existing workflows with VIP on-premises or rely fully on managed VIP cloud deployment to get premium content faster, safer and easier into their passenger’s hands.
Axinom Content Management System (CMS) is based on Axinom’s innovative workflow engine which ensures secure and scalable handling of all types of content items (videos, audio, advertising, products, magazines, news, payment transactions, etc.) and services while supporting delivery to different client platforms (Web browsers and mobile applications for smartphones and tablets on all client OS platforms including Windows, iOS, and Android).
Axinom Content Delivery System (CDS) allows incremental, secure, and robust bidirectional content synchronization using standardized communication protocols and mediums such as Cellular 3G / 4G, wireless Access, satellite, and physical storage devices like USB and SSD. Axinom CDS does not depend on permanent internet connection allowing disconnected synchronization scenarios.
Axinom Digital Rights Management (DRM) enables customers to target a wide range of client OS platforms with a single service by simultaneously supporting multiple DRM technologies. It is the first multi-DRM product that can operate in a disconnected fashion enabling premium video on board of the aircraft.
Based on Axinom´s core products (Axinom VIP, Axinom CMS, Axinom DRM, Axinom CDS), customers can create an open digital platform for in-flight entertainment, and offer full entertainment services to their passengers, such as streaming of premium Hollywood Studio´s movies, magazines, and music, on board shopping, promotions and advertising. In addition, airlines and IFE service providers can choose to include passenger information services into their digital platform and cover passenger surveys and crew messaging services.
