ZIPAIR Selects Axinom Stream to Power Next-Generation Onboard Streaming Platform

Tokyo, Japan / Fürth, Germany[April 25, 2026] — ZIPAIR Tokyo Inc. ("ZIPAIR") and Axinom today announced the airline’s selection of Axinom Stream to power its modern onboard streaming platform as part of its in-flight entertainment (IFE) offering.

Built on Axinom Stream, the solution enables DRM-protected Hollywood content delivery to passengers' personal devices (PEDs). As a digital-first airline with a PED-only cabin concept on long-haul routes, ZIPAIR places particular emphasis on high-quality onboard streaming as a core component of the passenger experience. Axinom’s proven products and deep industry expertise enable rapid implementation and deployment, accelerating ZIPAIR’s time-to-market for its next-generation entertainment platform.

"Our in-house digital team moves fast and thinks beyond traditional IFE," says Takuya Matsuo, CMO and Executive Officer at ZIPAIR. "Axinom’s flexible, API-driven platform allows us to integrate seamlessly with our passenger experience portal while ensuring full compliance with Hollywood studio requirements. The collaboration is efficient, hands-on, and highly aligned with our vision."

The deployment includes content management and media processing workflows aligned with studio specifications, over-the-air synchronization, and a containerized onboard software stack with orchestration and messaging capabilities. Fleet management functions allow ground-based control of content assignments, leg-based targeting, and content distribution across the airline’s growing fleet.

A key differentiator of the project has been the close collaboration between ZIPAIR’s in-house IT team and Axinom’s specialists. ZIPAIR maintains ownership of the passenger-facing experience, integrating Axinom’s Player SDK and APIs into its digital ecosystem — combining full creative control with the reliability of a studio-approved streaming backbone.

"ZIPAIR represents a new generation of airlines — digital-first, agile, and unafraid to rethink established concepts," says Ralph Wagner, CEO of Axinom. "We are proud to support their team with a platform that not only enables high-quality streaming today but also provides the foundation for future digital services. Our architecture ensures flexibility far beyond entertainment."

By leveraging Axinom On-Board Cloud and Axinom Mosaic, ZIPAIR gains a scalable environment capable of supporting additional digital capabilities over time. The software-centric approach allows the airline to innovate at its own pace while maintaining operational simplicity.
