Partial deployments are supported, so you can start with what you have and expand as your infrastructure evolves.
The App Launcher turns the seatback screen into the airline’s own surface. It controls which applications run and how they are presented, so entertainment, shopping, loyalty, and partner apps sit side by side under your branding. New apps are added from the ground, without touching the aircraft.
Passengers identify themselves on their own device and pair it with the seatback screen, so no credentials are entered on shared hardware. Once recognized, personalization, frequent‑flyer status, and payment become available at the seat. Authentication runs in the cloud, integrating loyalty systems and identity providers, and scales reliably with the real‑time requests that high‑speed connectivity brings.
Files are cached where they are used, on the server and on the screens themselves, and shared across an on‑board mesh network. Each file is delivered to the aircraft only once and is then shared between the devices on board, instead of every device pulling its own copy over the connectivity link. The cache fills continuously rather than on a synchronization schedule: on request, by prediction, or pushed from the ground.
The On‑Board Cloud implements CSMIM (Cabin Secure Media‑Independent Messaging), the open standard for cabin communication. Axinom’s central CSMIM Broker, combined with the common standard, enables interoperability of devices from various manufacturers, such as lighting, seats, sensors, and crew tablets. Components report status continuously, so maintenance teams act on trends instead of reacting to in‑flight failures.
